The Faculty Association posted a fact sheet that notes the Departmental Representative Council (DRC) voted to give FA President, Randy Hughes, the authority to file a notice of intent to strike.
Filing a notice of intent to strike is a bold action but it is not calling for a strike. This is a procedural move that allows the FA to exercise their legal right to go on strike if the university continues to stall and refuses to come back to the bargaining table. The goal is to ensure a fair bargaining process that allows the faculty (and all the other unions on campus) a voice in our working conditions. Having a voice means that we are able to ensure we’re creating a better university for faculty, staff, and students.
