News in the DE

Two items I noticed in the Daily Egyptian today:

Students forced to drop political science course: a course required for the Political Science major with full enrollment was cancelled for the summer session — because of a lack of budget. So if money isn’t being spent on actual instruction, that poses the question of where SIUC’s funds are going. Don’t forget to join us on Friday at Morris Library, 12pm, to find out!

Cheng hires outside marketing, university image to recieve ultimate makeover: Speaking of university funding, we may see a change come to the university brand. Frankly, we need it; we haven’t really quite shaken the “party school” image and the bad press we keep getting hasn’t helped. Of course, an easy way to gain some good press would simply be to finally settle all the open union contracts with good, fair, mutually agreed upon terms!
